TSS Security Introduces Rolling Physical Intervention Programme For All Security Operatives
September 2010 saw a change in the training required for all new Door Supervisors coming into the Leisure Security Industry. The most significant was the introduction of the Physical Intervention Unit which deals with safely applying force to remove an individual from the premises while limiting the danger to both the operative and customer alike. It did not, however, include the necessity for current Licensed operatives to retrain and learn these skills which ultimately meant that different operatives had different skill sets.TSS identified this as a potential problem and in line with being the industry leader has commenced a rolling training programme for all the operatives to undergo a one day SIA Approved Physical Intervention Programme. The programme consists of Disengagement Techniques and Safe Escort Techniques which reduce the chances of either the customer or operative being injured during a confrontation. In addition the operatives are taught in depth knowledge of the law as well as the medical implications which underpin the training allowing the operatives to know exactly what level of force they are permitted to use and how to avoid it in the first place.
The training, although a set model, is delivered around the individual needs of the venues that they are working and the skill sets can then be applied accordingly with the expectation that with practice they will understand the simple concepts and be able to adapt them to any environment. It is one step further to raising the level of professionalism of the operatives and ensuring that the Operatives work with not only ‘Industry Best Practice’ but also ‘TSS Best Practice’ which are almost parallel!
This training programme is rolling and will see all the operatives being trained whilst we are constantly receiving feedback on what would be good to see added and how it can be improved. It is only through the tireless attention to detail that we can expect to deliver the very best service to our current client and future clients.
